Anikka and Qussay – A Dawoodi Bohra Muslim wedding in London

My first Shia wedding / Indian Muslim wedding – Anikka & Qussay got married in a beautiful Dawoodi Bohra mosque in London. Annika with her art and design background wanted photos that mattered and I’m glad I was able to help.

I approached this wedding just like any other. I was there to capture the day and tell a couple’s story, irrelevant of who or where they were. Here is my take on a Dawhoodi Bohra wedding in Middlesex.

The Bohra’s are a sect of Shia Islam. Anikka and Qussay families hail from Gujarat, India.

Annika’s email.

Shah photographed our Nikkah in August 2012, and was professional from the start despite our last minute notice. He arrived early at the venue, and assessed who was important to photograph – ensuring that those who are closest to us were included in the bulk of the images. He knew exactly what we wanted in terms of creativity, and what our parents wanted in terms of documenting important rituals, as well as the group shots. His enthusiasm is infectious, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. We were happy to receive two sets of images for both sides- it was these touches which were very thoughtful.

You captured the culture and traditions of the wedding perfectly, IMHO.  Great eye for detail.  I’m sure the couple are thrilled with these!

The photo of her looking straight into the camera is beautiful. Lots of genuine emotion.

A Little message from the brides mother. We were really impressed the way you managed to be at the right place at the right time and your cheerful manner. You were mindful of taking everyones needs into consideration , so you did the statutory asian wedding requirements and the more artistic ones. Thank you for being there and may you have lots more of these to do. I highly recommend you for all weddings not just asian ones.  Best wishes Nazneen
